Support Support News Flash2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999 , 1998, 1997, 1996Support News Flash for 2003 January 7, 2003– RTHIST can cause MSM system failure *** This flash is being reissued the following correction *** A problem was found with the original patch that affects only DEC/Compaq/HP Alpha systems running True-64 UNIX and Alpha-NT. The patch will not operate correctly on these systems and will cause errors and potentially cause system crashes. Users of these systems who applied the original patch should download this patch and apply the RTHISTJB-Alpha.rs patch immediately. Users of other platforms need not re-patch their systems. A bug has been identified and fixed in one of the RTHIST (Routine Histogram) support utilities that in very rare cases can cause the MSM system to crash. This bug affects MSM 4.4.x on all platforms when RTHIST is run on a busy system. A patch is available via anonymous ftp at ftp://ftp.intersystems.com/pub/msm/patches/RTHISTJB.zip. This patch is a ‘zip’ format file containing two routine saves and a ‘README.txt’ file that explains which file to load. The routine can be loaded to the MGR UCI on a running system at any time using the ^%RR utility. InterSystems strongly recommends this patch for any sites using the RTHIST utility.
