Open M [ISM] for OpenVMS Alpha
Version 6.2 Summary of Features
Starting Open M
- To better identify Open M and the environment in which it is running, Open
M now writes a record to the mconsole.log file each time an MSTART is performed.
The record specifies the Open M version number, the operating system name and
version, and the node name.
I/O
- Open M [ISM] for OpenVMS Alpha now supports magnetic tape block sizes of up
to 32768 bytes.
- Open M [ISM] for OpenVMS Alpha now supports a total of 92 pairs of interjob
communications devices that can be accessed via the OPEN, USE, and CLOSE
commands.
Networking
- InterSystems has enhanced the Open M caching structure, leading to
significantly improved performance when there is a large number of network
users.
- InterSystems has added a debugging feature to Open M networking to help the
system recover from sequence desynchronization problems between the client and
server of an ISNET connection (a condition where the server expects a different
sequence number than the client is sending).
Journalling
- The GETREC entry point of the JRNUTIL utility now returns the timestamp
associated with each record in JRNODE(1,1,3).
Utilities
- More consistency has been provided in exiting some utilities, specifically
those that prompt for a directory name. All of the following will allow you to
exit from these utilities: quit, exit, stop and "^".
M Language Extensions
- InterSystems now supports $ZU(106), a function that allows you to store
temporary information in a memory buffer instead of in globals.
- To accommodate long tag and routine names, the $ZE special variable now
returns up to 96 characters.
