MSM-Server for Windows NT
Trying to decide between MSM for Windows 95 and WIndows NT? Want to
learn the dirffferences between the two products? Check out the MSM
for Windows 95 and MSM for Windows NT comparison.
MSM-Server for Windows NT lets you plug and play.
When you want to add new peripheral devices to your MSM-Server for Windows
NT system, it's easy. You simply plug and play. Unlike PC-based
systems, which directly control devices, MSM-Server for Windows NT supports
hardware devices using standard operating system interfaces.
MSM-Server for Windows NT offers built-in Telnet support.
Telnet, which comes built-in with MSM-Server for Windows NT, eliminates
routing hassles and even comes license-free. It also gives you the ability
to allow Internet users to dial into your MSM-based system. For the
first time, you can make your MSM database available to the rapidly
growing world of cyberspaceall with MSM-Server for Windows NT.
MSM-Server for Windows NT also offers the same LAT technology available
in our other MSM server products as an optional add-on. LAT or Telnet:
the choice is yours.
MSM-Server for Windows NT fully supports client/server.
MSM-Server for Windows NT offers complete three-tier client/server support
that gives you maximum flexibilityyou can set up your system however
you like. This powerful solution automates the distribution of the presentation,
application, and data management tiers across the network.
MSM-Server for Windows NT lets you create GUI interfaces and runs
CHUI-based systems, too.
For your client needs, you may want to consider using MSM-Activate,
which allows you to create front-ends for your MSM databases using virtually
any commercially available tool, such as Visual Basic and Delphi. By
combining MSM-Activate and MSM-Server for Windows NT, you can develop
true client/server applications without the need for MSM on the desktop.
Another option for building M-based systems is MSM-Workstation.
This solution offers a true desktop client product for client/server
architectures, as well as an integrated development and runtime environment.
MSM-Workstation runs as a native 32-bit application (rather than as
a DOS box) under Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95. Best of all, MSM-Workstation
allows you to package new or existing applications as .EXE programs
and distribute these files royalty-free.
Finally, if you are currently supporting character-based applications,
you can use MSM-Server for Windows NTand MSM-Workstation, too. These
products support M-based, CHUI applications by emulating a PC console.
MSM-Server for Windows NT is fully compatible.
Like all MSM server products, MSM-Server for Windows NT is completely
compatible with all of our other servers, including MSM-Server
for DOS, and MSM-Server for UNIX. This means
that applications built on other supported platforms can be moved easily
to MSM-Server for Windows NT. You can also share your MSM database with
MSM-based applications running on any supported server.
Best of all, it's easy to upgrade from MSM-Server for DOS.
There's great news for our MSM-Server for DOS developers: upgrading
to MSM-Server for Windows NT is simple. You can use your existing database
with MSM-Server for Windows NT--there's usually no conversion required.
In addition, you usually do not need to modify MSM-Server for DOS-built
applications to run under MSM-Server for Windows NT. Finally, this solution
supports all popular hardware using standard interfaces. As many of
our satisfied users tell us, conversion to MSM-Server for Windows NT
just couldn't be easier.
