MSM-Server for Windows 95

Trying to decide between MSM for Windows 95 and WIndows NT? Want to learn the dirffferences between the two products? Check out the MSM for Windows 95 and MSM for Windows NT comparison.

MSM-Server for Windows 95 is part of the MSM line of Windows server products and provides a solution for migrating small MSM-PC/PLUS systems to the Windows environment.

MSM-Server for Windows 95 is a sister product of MSM-Server for Windows NT, and was developed using the same code base. The products are jointly named MSM-Server for Windows.

MSM-Server for Windows 95 – Built on the success of MSM-Server for Windows NT.
Both MSM-Server for Windows products enable the use of Windows printing, 32-bit TCP support and built-in Telnet support. MSM-Server for Windows 95 product benefits from the cost-effective Windows 95 operation system.

MSM-Server for Windows gives you built-in Telnet support.
Telnet, which also comes built-in with MSM-Server for Windows, eliminates routing hassles and even comes license-free. It also gives you the ability to allow Internet users to dial into your MSM-based system. For the first time, you can make your M database available to the rapidly growing world of cyberspace—all with MSM-Server for Windows.

MSM-Server for Windows fully supports client/server applications.
MSM-Server for Windows offers complete three-tier client/server support that gives you flexibility—you can set up your system however you like. This solution automates the distribution of the presentation, application, and data management tiers across the network.

MSM-Server for Windows lets you create GUI interfaces and runs CHUI-based systems, too.
For your client needs, you may want to consider using MSM-Activate, which allows you to create front-ends for your MSM databases using virtually any commercially available tool, such as Visual Basic and Delphi. By combining MSM-Activate and MSM-Server for Windows, you can develop true client/server applications without the need for MSM on the desktop. MSM-Activate even supports development in Java.

Another option for building M-based systems is MSM-Workstation. This exciting solution offers a true desktop client product for client/server architectures, as well as an integrated development and runtime environment. MSM-Workstation runs as a native 32-bit application under Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95.

Finally, if you are currently supporting character-based applications, you can still use MSM-Server for Windows. These products support M-based, CHUI applications from terminals, LAT, Telnet or via the character mode in MSM-Workstation.

MSM-Server for Windows 95 is fully compatible.
Like all MSM server products, MSM-Server for Windows 95 is completely compatible with all of our other servers, including MSM-Server for DOS (formerly known as MSM-PC/PLUS), MSM-Server for Windows NT and MSM-Server for UNIX. This means that applications built on other supported platforms can be moved easily to MSM-Server for Windows 95. You can also share your M database with M-based applications running on any supported server.

Simple migration from MSM-Server for DOS-based systems.
The inherent portability makes migration from MSM-Server for DOS systems to MSM-Server for Windows as simple as can be. You usually do not need to modify MSM-Server for DOS-built applications, and you can use your existing MSM-Server for DOS database--no conversion is required
